Lavender Lemonade

Fresh English Lavender is in bloom and this aromatic flower is edible and perfect for using in drinks.  Today we start with a recipe that is good for the whole family to enjoy, including the kids.  It is a refreshing take on lemonade with the addition of culinary lavender.  We offer you the recipe in batch form so you can make a pitcher.  From there you can enjoy it all day sans- alcohol or spiked with either vodka or gin.  So mix a batch up and share it with the whole family!

Lavender Lemonade

In a large saucepan add:

  • 2 Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Sugar

Bring to a boil then shut off the heat and add:

  • ¼ Cup of Fresh English Lavender Flowers*

Steep for 30 minutes.  Then strain lavender sugar water into a pitcher discarding flowers.  Add:

  •  2 More Cups of Cold Water
  • 1 Cup of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Stir & Serve Over Ice with a Lemon Garnish or Sprig of Lavender.

Spiked Lavender Lemonade

In a tall collins glass filled with ice add:

  • 1 ½ Ounces of Either Vodka or Gin (your preference)
  • Top with Lavender Lemonade

Stir & Garnish with a Lemon or Sprig of Lavender

*While all Lavender is edible it is the English variety that is most palatable and best for culinary use.
