Each country has a spot.  A place where wine defines our understanding of the people, food & culture.  Simply utter the words Chianti and visions of sun soaked vineyards, medieval castles and broad noodle pasta come to mind.  We’ve come a long way from straw bottles and red checkered tablecloths.  This transformation of how we view the wines from Italy was set into motion by Chianti’s first quality minded producers based in the ‘Classico’ district.  Anything touting the appellation Chianti Classico is a cut above surrounding vineyards and commands a different level of respect.

Tenuta di Arceno is a estate formed with strict standards and exacting measures both in the vineyards and winemaking rooms.  Winemakers Pierre Seilland & Lawrence Cronin have deployed a ‘micro-cru’ approach to their vineyards.  Identifying small blocks on their estate and coaxing out of them their unique attributes by vinifying them separately.  A painstaking method which has led to their ascension as a top producer.  Their wines embody traditional Classico structure and raciness coupled to a supple core of polished cherry fruits.  The 2021 Tenuta di Arceno Chianti Classico is one of the richest examples we’ve tasted in recent memory.
